Rich Dascenzo (Class of 1960)

Caroline Fecek, chairwoman of the Taste of Italy wine tasting event is shown presenting the Last Box Charley Award to Richard Dascenzo, whose Mango Win won him the distinction.

The award is named in memory of Charley Britvich who, when helping his friends crush grapes, had the honor of adding the last box to the crusher. The winner of this award was decided by a vote of the guests at the TAste of Italy wine tasting.

Kids and Grandkids

How would you folks like it if I started a series on posting photos of your kids/grandkids?  I just came up with this idea after receiving comments from Alyssa Broadwater; plus Kathy Capozzoli Matty (1960) sent me copies of her grandkids weeks ago and I had no place to put them except in my pictures files...so heck, might as well post them on the blog.  Indeed want photos of Alyssa since she planted the idea.  So what do ya'll think about this?  If you like this idea, pick out your 3 best photos, email them to me as a .jpeg photo and identify who's on the photo.  I will take care of the rest.

Kenny Murphy (1960)

Kenneth R. Murphy, age 65, of New Salem, Pa., died on Sunday, July 13, 2008. He was born on January 25, 1943, in Brownsville, Pa., Son of Eudora Jay Murphy Childs. Kenneth was predeceased by his Mother, his Stepfather, Albert Childs, and Brother, Rick Childs.

 

He is survived by four Children: Marilyn Dorogi and husband Alex, Republic, Pa., Kenneth Jack Murphy, Greensburg, Pa., Aaron R. Murphy, New Salem, Pa., and Natalie Ann Murphy, Fairchance, Pa.; Granddaughters: Crystal Blunt, Jennifer Murphy, Ashley Murphy and Chelsea Murphy; Sister, Gail Marghella, Brownsville, Pa.; and Brothers: Terry Murphy, East Millsboro, Pa., and Bruce Childs, Mentor, Ohio.

Friends will be received in the SKIRPAN FUNERAL HOME, 135 Park Street, Brownsville, Pa., on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. where a Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, July 16, 2008, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Roger Diehl officiating. Interment will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pennsylvania.

Bob Rose (1961)

Received word that Bob Rose, Class of 1961, passed away in April 2008. No obit available.

Carol Eicher (1960)

Carol Ann Eicher Horabik, age 65, of Fairbank, Pa., and formerly of Brownsville, Pa., class of 1960, died Monday, April 21, 2008. She was born on December 4, 1942, in Brownsville, Pa., Daughter of Harry Eicher and Helen Kossack Eicher. She was predeceased by her Husband, Andrew John Horabik Sr. and her Parents.

She is survived by 11 Children: Denise Wells, Andrew Horabik Jr. and Donna Bates, Bernie Horabik and Amber Eperjesi, Carol VanDivner and Doug, Eric Horabik, Faye Horabik, Gloria Horabik and Wayne Davison Jr., Harry Horabik and Jamie Hines, Ileen Kurnot and Joe, Jeffrey Horabik and Katie Franks; 13 Grandchildren: Aaron, Curtis, Laura, Dougie, Dustin, Kameron, Braden, Gavin, Aaliyah, Dalton, Caylee, Bryce and Benji; a Sister, Helen Stagesin; and by her beloved Dog, Skippy.

Friends will be received in the SKIRPAN FUNERAL HOME, 135 Park Street, Brownsville, Pa., on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. where a Prayer Service will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2008, at 9:30 a.m. A Funeral Mass follows at 10 a.m. in The Historic Church of Saint Peter in Brownsville, Pa., with the Rev. Father Vincent Gigliotti as Celebrant. Interment will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa.

Jeannette Kokay (1960)

Jeannete Kokay Dunn, age 65, secretary with the Plantation, Florida, Police Department and a former resident of West Brownsville, where she was born, died at home on April 3, 2008.

Surviving are her mother Ethel Frund Kokay, Tamarac, Florida; and siblings: Nancy Kokay Hatfield of Tamarac, Violet Kokay, East Ridge, Tennessee, Ronald Kokay, Mentor, Ohio and Thomas Kokay, West Brownsville.

NOTE: I do not have that many "NOW" photos of these classes since not too many of you attend Pat's reunions. If you want to be added to the video, you need to send me an updated photo of yourself and it will be included in the next DVD slide show around August or September.

Gary Tracy (Class of 1962)

Seems that this is a month to post "sad news."

Gary L. Tracy, 63, of Grand River, Ohio, formerly of Brownsville, Pa., passed away November 15, 2007, in University Hospital of Cleveland. He is survived by his wife, Beth; daughters: Amy (Chris) Castiglione and Andrea Tracy both of Perry, Ohio; four grandchildren; a brother, Dr. Scott (Judi) Tracy of Elizabeth, Pa.; nieces and nephews.  Visitation will be held on Saturday from 3 to 6 p.m. in the BRUNNERS FUNERAL HOME, MENTOR, OHIO.
