How to buy my books!

 

OK folks, there are 2 ways that you can purchase my books. I am still working on the third option with Smashwords that provides more format choices..having problems getting their support in resolving some issues.

 

 

1. Preview and buy at Amazon Kindle on my author page. If you are a new customer, click on the Start here section on the Amazon page; if already a customer, simply Sign In. 

2. Preview and buy at Lulu on my author spotlight page. You must sign up as a member. You can download the FREE Adobe Digital Edition Launcher in order to read the ebooks. If it is not on my Lulu page, you can download it HERE. This is a good choice for those who do not have a Kindle or other ebook readers...you must read the book on line or on your computer.

NOTE: The Buy Lulu button on the LEFT sidebar does not list all my books so it is better to go to my spotlight page until I can get this resolved.  Wow, this self publishing is confusing and hard work. LOL

I will keep working on the Smashwords option.

How to download ebook to a Kindle

 Hey, thanks to my dear friend, Jayne I can tell you how to download my ebooks to a Kindle. (I don't own one, thus have no idea how it works...LOL)

 

1. Go to http://www.amazon.com

2. Sign in to Amazon (must register)

3. Go to search block and choose Shop in Kindle store

4.  Type in name of book or author’s name (Lenora Byrd) in adjacent block (may be located at the bottom of page) 

5.  Click on a Book title and buy.  It will download on your Kindle.

 Jayne says it very easy to do.  Thank you, thank you so much girlfriend...I knew I could depend upon you.

Published on Amazon Kindle: Update

Wow, it took me some time to figure out all this publishing stuff! I have a few more gray hairs added to my fro and my brain is almost fried. My book covers are self-made and not that fancy and there are some minor formating in my ebooks; nevertheless, the reader can get the gist of my story.  I was determined to conquer this process and think I may be on a roll now and can begin writing my next eBook.

Today I managed to get my eBooks published on Amazon Kindle and am still waiting for them to update my Author Page to include my eBooks. My printed paperback I published in 2007 is still available at Amazon and listed on this page. The printed version WAC Major; Herstory is the same as the Once I Was Parts 1 and 2, A Black Woman in the White Man's Army in my new eBooks. 

OK.  As of Dec 17th there is an updated Author page lising all 4 of my books. Check it out on my author page: Amazon books.  You must register on Amazon and sign in. Click on any of the book titles to go to shopping cart page.

I am still having problems publishing on Lulu and Smashwords and waiting for help from them. 

So here's hoping you review my books, purchase them and enjoy my story.  Book reviews will be appreciated.

Buying My Books

Well, Folks...I had some trouble getting my ebooks available for purchase. This ebook publishing and digital stuff is difficult to digest and I am learning by trial and error.  Sorry about all the emails I sent out to folks with the incorrect site to purchase my ebooks. I had to unpublish my books on SMASHWORDS until I can figure out how this site works (some of you may have been able to get some free downloads on the site I sent you--enjoy). In the meantime, I am working on how to republish my 3 ebooks on Smashwords which provides more ebook formats to read ebooks that I listed in earlier postings.

So Jayne, wait until I do this and then I can tell you how to download and read my books on your Kindle. Heck, I don't have a Kindle or any of the other reading devices and have no idea how they work. Another research project I can add to my list of Things to Do.  

For now, my Once I Was Parts 1 and 2 ebooks are available at Lulu publishing on my author Spotlight Page in EPUB and PDF format. These 2 ebooks are the same as my 2007 published printed book WAC Major: Herstory, A Black Woman in the White Man's Army.  You will be able to read these books by the EPUB for Adobe Digital.  You will have to download the Adobe Digital Editions reader that I mentioned in my earlier post. I just checked and my Once I Was (Part 3), A Retired Major Adjusting to Civilian Life is also available. 

So dear friends, sorry for emailing you with the wrong info and please bear with me as I learn more about this digital and ebook publishing technology and get it down to a science so I can publish my upcoming ebooks and share them with you.

My Publishing Journey #1

In September 2011, I began researching information about eBooks and obtained some useful ideas. Hey, I think I may have found a way to publish my second book without paying an outrageous price to a company that will not deliver what they promise. Been there done that with my first book.  Wow, how much things have changed in the self-publishing world. For the past 4 years I had chapters completed for my second book sitting dormant on my computer.

The more I researched eBook self-publishing, the more I realized that I had found a method to write as much as I wanted, about any subject I chose, and use it as I see fit. My brain kicked in and said: "Lenora, you can write a book series using all the chapters you have already written." In my planned second book I had covered all the events and experiences I endured during my retirement from the Army in 1989 up to 2000 with ideas about writing about what was happening to me in the "here and now."

My first goal was to republish my printed book into two separate eBooks with some minor changes. This way those who had not read this version of my book would have access to such to play catch up so they would understand my following series of eBooks. Plus my so-called publishing company who compiled my printed book did not assist me in marketing and selling my book, so many of my friends and associates haven't even read it.

NOTE: On December 1^st, I received an email from this publishing company that I have no trust in: “Hope you are doing well today. This is regarding our FREE EBook Conversion. We are glad to inform you that your book entitled “WAC Major: Herstory, A Black Woman in the White Man’s Army with Book ID 36994” is eligible for our Free EBook conversion. The base price for the eBook is $3.99.  You will get 50% from the actual price of your book which in this case you will get $2 per copy sold. Your book will be available in epub format. I have attached the approval form in this Email. If you are interested with our conversion please print the approval form and affix your signature. There will be no extra cost or hidden charges for this project”.  What would you do about this offer dear reader?  LOL

I dreamed up a "Once I Was" eBook series as a way to capture all my episodes and experiences of the past and decided which chapters I had already written would be included in each eBook. I initially had intentions of only writing 3 eBooks in this series; however I came up with other ideas and have plans for 5 eBooks instead. The nice thing about eBooks is that you don't have to charge much and right now I am looking at a price of $5.99 per eBook. Hey, I am not expecting to make money writing these books. I only want to tell my story, share it with others, and have a therapeutic outlet that will keep my brain alive and functioning until the day I die.

I have written several chapters that cover my experiences as I presently face the dilemma of my golden years and decided to create a "Now I Am" eBook series which will more or less portray my present status of embracing life while facing the enevitable--death. Now I have a working plan for my publishing journey.

I'm Back!

  Hi everyone...good to be back after a year or so. I have spent the past year on my writings and finally found a way to continue with my favorite pasttime--writing. This blog is where I will update my new ebook writings and post book reviews received by my readers or any other information concerning writing.

For the past year I have been trying to figure out a way to publish my second book, which has been completed and deals with my life after retiring from the military. In August 2011, I researched ebook writing and decided to try this route which is more cost effective and allows me to write as many books as I want, when I want to and on any subject I wish. So I am on a roll, sitting back on my computer writing. trying to fight dementia and keep my brain active.  I will be publishing my series of ebooks very soon, but first I have to choose a suitable publishing outlet based on the various devices now used to read ebooks.

I decided to turn my hard copy published book of 2007 into ebooks Part 1 and Part 2 (Once I Was...A Black Woman in the White Man's Army); so if you did not read my printed book, here is your chance to play catch up. I made some minor changes, but the story remains the same. Book reviews are included in this blog of my printed copy for all to peruse.  I will continue with my Once I Was series and create ebooks Part 3 and Part 4, which will cover my experiences and struggles after I retired from the Army in 1989.

Then I will venture on to continue with a Now I Am series to cover the present day of embracing life as a senior citizen during my golden years. It is during these series that I hope to get input from my readers who are willing to share their stories during the blessed golden years we all eventually have to face. So many of you have tales to tell about the struggles and experiences you endure during these years and hopefully you will give me useful information to include in these writings. Everyone has a story to tell and we as seniors have some dynamic experiences that should not go unnoticed. I will eventually list topics I plan to write about in these series, so you will have an idea what I plan to deal with.  Please continue to check this blog for upcoming information.

So wish me luck and here's hoping you will buy my ebooks (at a very reasonable price, yet to be determined); provide book reviews here at this blog, and check in often to see what I am up to in my writings.  Thanks for being there for me.
